Bummer...cutting down trees for any reason other than disease or dead is a sad thing for me...

Yes it was a hard decision but I value the house more. The trees were to close to the house and they were growing so quickly. The trunks had splits on them about an inch wide in various places and they were not very straight .

Well that depends on what kind of maple. If they were Acer platanoides or pseudoplatanus in the northeast US, then good riddance!

Yes I am sure that's what they were. And they were loaded with the seed pods. The ones that fly all over the yard and every yard in neighborhood.

and now you can replant with favored varieties ... with proper siting ...

did you at least harvest the firewood?? .. or the chips????

let the wood chips stand until next spring ... so the leaves breakdown .... and trhen use them in your garden ....

and if you are grinding them out.. insist they REMOVE all grindings.. that is not mulch ... its carp ...

Ken, I've used stump grindings as mulch with no problems. My arborist friend brings me stump grindings by the truckful once in awhile.
What makes it less desirable than chipped mulch?
