Insane color on this oak seedling!

Couple folks identified this seedling as black oak.

Does this really look like Quercus velutina with this vibrant fall color? It doesn't really look like Quercus rubra either.

I often see great color on seedlings. In particular I get red maple seedlings that are florescent colors ... while the parents are just blah yellow. Not being a professional grower, I don't let them grow up to see if the color stays consistent.

But it always had gotten me curious about whether seedlings had better color than adults in many cases.

Ah shoot, I was thinking I was going to have an Oak with great fall color.

I'll keep it as Black Oak for now and watch what it does the next couple years. The other seedlings I had turned a yellow brown by the way.
