The fall color sucks, I went to see how seed production was this year. I already have a Shingle oak in my yard, but last year this tree didn't seed much. Well, this year it put out alot of seed, but the caps were all that was left, it was crawling with squirrels. I tried to snap a pic of one of the squirrels but it moved too fast, so there is a pic of the trunk. under fall shingle oak Fall mature shingle oak The tree looks rough. It needs trimmed, there are alot of dead branches. If I had lots of money I would try to get it done but, it is not on my property anyway.

seems like all shingles would enjoy some trimming... great tree though! Would love to see one that size. All those I have seen are a few decades old. And they look terrible.
