| Hello,
I recently purchased my first home on a 1.2 acre lot and have some room to plant a few trees. I already have chosen my large specimen/shade trees (a southern magnolia, and two maples) and got those in the ground several months ago, and would like now to select accent and border type trees. I also have two weeping snow fountain cherries. I live in zone 7. The trees will get full sun exposure, and the soil is fairly sandy. I was initially leaning towards flowering pears like the Cleveland, but am reading again and again how fragile they are. I am now onto cherries, the Yoshino in particular. Flowering crab apples like the prariefire have also made their way into possibles. Crepe myrtles are also very popular in the area. I am looking for spring or summer flowers with some decent fall color. I am in flat open ground that is sometimes subject to some good winds, so I want a fairly rugged tree. I would like to plant a few of these trees within ~30' of the end of my leach field (~100' from tank), so I don't want anything with invasive or extensive root structure. Others will be planted as lot dividers, along the property line...perhaps along the drive. Thanks in advance for help! I'm open to any sorts of pointers. Let me know if you need more information.
