There is no such thing as an original thought. Because as soon as someone sees someone spending money on something, anything, it is copied. Freely, poorly, well, or better. The difference is in your perspective.

The only way of knowing if they are better or not is to try them. Because the variables are many. Soil mix, root system, local conditions (such as temperature or reflectivity of the substrate surface, influencing temperature of the soil mix and air surrounding it), anticipated life in whatever container, and size you start with.

Your best bet is to find a library that has back issues of American Nurseryman.

My gut feeling, from looking at them, is that they would do a better job of root pruning but might require more frequent watering. Whether that would result in a better plant would send us back to the conversations I've seen before on here.

I might try some. The biggest ones are 4" wide by 8" deep - allowing for air prining but still letting a longer taproot establish - potentially a bit more of a "best of both worlds" scenario.

May try it side by side with netpots and Rootmaker cells to see how they all do.
