| Hello, this is my first time posting on the site and I am in need of some help. I planted 30 green giant arborvitae as a privacy fence 2 months ago (mid-September). We've had a lot of rain in the northeast, so I haven't had to water them myself.
The rain has slowed down over the last few weeks and I started to notice some browning on some of the trees. I only see it on the last 4 trees in the row I planted, but I want to take care of it before it becomes a bigger problem. Is it simply a matter of having to water them now or are there other issues I should be concerned with? Thanks in advance

| they look fine... some broken branches from shipping.. handling.. etc... simply track back on the limb.. to a branching spot.. where there is green .... remove brown part ... it will fill in ... as to water.. dig a small hole.. just outside the root mass you planted .. AND FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE SOIL DOWN THERE... we .. nor you.. can NOT GUESS what is going on.. we need facts ... this time of year... one good watering at planting should be enough.. since soil and air temps are cool ... the soil simply has no reason to dry that fast in late fall ....i would be more concerned about drowning them.. rather than lack of water.. regardless.. go find out.. they are conifers.. as well as trees ... there are thousands of posts on GG ... post wherever you wish.. it doesnt bother me any which way ... but if conifers interest you.. you might enjoy the conifer forum ... [ i feel like a drug pusher.. lol] WELCOME TO GW!!!!! ken ps: PROPER WATERING requires that you be responsible for all water next year .... water deeply.. and thoroughly.. and then let them nearly dry before you water again .... again.. digging small holes.. lets you discover how it all works in your soil.. |

| Thanks for the help. We just got another 1-2 inches of rain, so I'll wait a few days and investigate the soil moisture. |
