| I am thinking about planting an Autumn Purple Ash. I live in central C.A., with clay ground. It can get up to and a little over 100 degrees here, and it can also get a pretty good north west wind. I want to plant this guy in a 6' by 25' planter on the west side of my house. The 6' planter has a cedar fence on one side and cement on the other side. I would like to put it as close to the house as you guys suggest. As far as the cement side I was thinking about putting that 2' ridged root barrier along the cement because I have read that these guys can have shallow roots. What do you guys think? Thanks. |

| Consider instead. That does well down there, produces good fall color. However, even that may become too large for the site. The ash would definitely be too big, at least one up here is over 100' tall. |
