| I live in the valley of CA and see some of these beautiful trees around. Would like to know more about them, but can't find that much info on the web. What's their growth rate, male or female (which one is better), and not as messy? Are they shallow rooted, can they be planted near concrete? Just want a nice colorful shade tree near the house. Thanks |

| Pistacia chinensis 'Keith Davey' is a male (seedless) cultivar. There is no such thing as a female 'Keith Davey'. Growth rate (medium) should be the sames as the straight species, but will be dependent upon multiple local conditions. It's frequently recommended as a good street tree (near sidewalks, etc). Most information you could possibly want on this cultivar can be easily found on the web, because the tree is very similar, in most respects, to the straight species except for the consistent good fall coloration and the fact that it's male. |
