From your link I can see it's one of the newer reddish purple hybrids from the Jury family in New Zealand. These usually involve M. campbellii and are more tree-like, larger parted - and less hardy - than the Kosar and De Vos National Arboretum hybrids such as 'Ann'.

If you have a tight space you may not really have room for a magnolia anyway - nearly all of them grow into small trees at the very least. Even lily, Oyama and star magnolias grow more than 15' tall and wide, over time - multiple examples of star magnolia more than 20' tall are known in my area. (And yes, these are true star magnolias and not misidentified Kobus or Loebner magnolias).

And a specimen tree like this needs room around it to show well.

Yes, I have been contemplating the little girls because of late flowering, repeat blooms, and smaller 10 year size, but then came across this new one which claims to be so narrow. Smaller canopy means more options for layering other plants. I guess no one here is growing it yet... no replies.

Wow, bboy, that's stunning! Thank you for the link. Most likely it will get a bit bigger than that with time, and it will still fit where I had in mind. Only negative, being soulangeana and liliflora hybrid would be possible frost damage due to early flowering. It will be on the North side of a 6 foot fence, so the ground and first foot or two will be in winter shade, hopefully help to prevent early flowering. I'm going to ask in another post if anyone on GW has grown or seen it.
