Princeton Sentry Ginkgo

I have a narrow strip (~15 to 20 feet) between my home and my neighbor's drive in which I'd like to plant a Princeton Sentry Ginkgo (columnar variety to ~20 feet in diameter). However, I'm having a difficult time finding a local nursery that has or can get one. I'm starting to wonder why.

Anyone in the north Alabama/southern Tennessee area have any luck finding this variety? Also, any concerns I should have about siting it here?

If you want to purchase a small one through mail-order, the following nurseries have them in stock:

Whitman Farms - www.whitmanfarms.com - excellent Garden Watchdog rating

ForestFarm - www.forestfarm.com - very good Garden Watchdog rating

Your local nurseries shouldn't be having a problem sourcing one for you. A TON of wholesalers have them in inventory, including at least a few in the McMinnville, TN area probably not that far from you.

Little off topic but I was browsing whitman's availability and found this quite hilarious.

Here is a link that might be useful: Gingerbread

I have to say, knowing that there are so many large tree farms around McMinnville TN, I have to say if who you are talking to is not finding them available, then it is because they don't want to deviate from their standard supplier (happens allot), they don't want to get it for some reason (i.e. want to sale what they already have, etc.), or they aren't looking (i.e. don't want to be bothered with special orders, don't underestimate lazy). Try other places and see what they will say. And if that doesn't work, find one of those suppliers around McMinnville that grows them. Should not be hard to find. Then you will find out the real reason. You will find somebody that will get what you want. Also some of the better regarded landscapers would probable be happy to help. One of the local nurseries gets allot of stuff you won't see elsewhere, but you can't take your eyes off them for a second.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep checking around. Odd that so many nurseries here don't carry it with suppliers that close (I'm in Huntsville, AL).

You all have given me hope that I can get one though.
