| Hello all.
I am posting because I need some help identifying a tree. I work for a company that makes a golf simulator. We recreate golf courses from all over the world.
I am supposed to recreate the tree pictured below. It is found on Pebble Beach in California. I have tried EVERY type I can think of, but can NOT figure out what kind of tree this is. Shown here:
Based on the leaf shapes, one might think it was a cypress or a juniper... but the whispy branch shapes are very unique and I know I have seen them before... but cannot find any other reference photos that match this here tree.
If anyone can give me any clues as to what kind of tree this is, I will be VERY grateful. Thanks in advance! |

| Looks like a Monterey cypress. There's another one right behind it. |

| @bboy thanks! Hadn't considered it being a very young one. I'll look into that now. :) |

| Oh, I think I found it. I think it's a Cupressocyparis leylandii "Gold Rider". Least that's the closest I have found so far. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Cupressocyparis leylandii

| It really doesn't look anything like Gold Rider. At least not comparing the pictures you posted and the link you posted. |

| I would not expect this to be a Leyland cypress. |

| THAT sounds like a fun job! |

| I don't think you've got it with Gold Rider either. Can you post a close-up of the foliage? I'm not convinced of Bboy's answer either but he's a lot more often right than wrong! Karin L |
