Mail order source for larger specialty trees

I've only come across Whitmanfarms, Forestfarm and Sooner that ship above a 1 gallon container and have a decent variety. The former is probably the best of the bunch.

Are there any others out there that you've used?

I like to use Cold Stream Farms. They do wholesale and retail. So you can order either 500 white oaks or just 1. They ship bare-root though....Sizes range from a few inches up to around 6-7 feet. They do mostly natives but they also do some european and asian trees. In addition, they have a selection of shrubs, grasses, and vines. Prices are rather cheap compared to elsewhere.

Soonerplantfarm is great... I purchased Acer palmatum 'Emperor I' from them in a 2 gallon smart pot, it was around 4.5 to 5' tall for $30.

I don't know anything about this place, however they ship 1's, 2's, 5's. Their website doesn't list plant size on their descriptions, and if you were to order you'd have to call anyway. Might be worth looking into & giving them a jingle.

Hmm...why is everyone hiding their sources?lol

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Greer is another popular one that I missed.

Colvos lacks cultivars but wow that is an impressive species list!

Just got an order from the link below this week. Not large plants, but I have never gotten better plants mail order. I WILL be going back. Oh, and shipping was much more reasonable too.

I've been hearing good things about them.

Recently I came across Fantastic Plants. I haven't tried them before but they have a few nice selections and shipping is $5 right now for anything!

FWIW,
I have seen good things said about Fantastic Plants, but have not gotten anything from them. I think I read somewhere on the website at one point that they basically factor in the cost of shipping into the price so that you don't get a big gotcha at the end. If you get something from them, then please let us know how it turned out.

I splurged on a 5 gallon 'Blagon'. A 1 gallon plant from Song Sparrow was $75 + ship and Sooner had 5 gallon for $60 but shipping is $60 to get you to $120. Its tough to find decent sized columnar plants.

I really want to try a Stewartia from them with the shipping deal but its way too late to plant that this time of year. I don't have a problem planting a zone 4 plant this time of year in a protected spot though like the Ginkgo.
