My Christmas trees

Can you guess what species these are? How about the genus? family? order??

OK - This is probably the first time someone in this country has used this genus as a Christmas tree, but I think they work perfectly for it, as long as the ornaments aren't too heavy. I don't have any close ups.

They do superficially resemble those for sure. But, I would have posted this in the conifers forum if they were.

Casuarina or Allocasuarina?

Right family! Different Genus though - Gymnostoma. In this case, the big one is G. deplancheanum from New Caledonia (where it grows with and looks like Callitris sulcata and C. neocaledonica) and the small one is G. australianum, which is used as a Christmas tree in parts of Australia. These are of course closer to oaks than conifers for those of you unfamiliar with the Casuarinaceae.

The power of convergent evolution in morphology! A popular format ever since Psilotum's ancestors.

Now how are you gonna top that choice for next year?

"Now how are you gonna top that choice for next year?"

Something with better apical dominance and more regular branching (and also able to carry heavier decorations!

My choice would be Abies procera
