Pine Tree Suggestion

We want to plant some sort of Pine tree at a vacation home is extreme southwest Missouri (soil is mostly rock). We only get down there once per month, so we are looking for a PINE suggestion that is very drought tollerant.
Thanks, Bill

pines are conifers.. as well as trees ...

there is a conifer forum .. where we post pics of all kinds of conifers ...

regardless.. i do not care where you post ...

it might help to know what your goal is with the tree .. how big is the lot.. how far from the house can it be planted.. etc ...

conifers tend to prefer high drainage ... so your soil doenst sound all that bad ...

a call to your county soil conservation or Ag office.. will probably get you a quick list of pines native to the area... maybe even the website of such ...

Shortleaf Pine. Plant several seedlings between now and end of March. Water once a month or when you can get there. After 2-3 years weed out the ones you don't want and keep the better specimens. Assume you have acidic soil there.
These trees are planted bare-root as seedlings for forestry (not watered) and most survive/thrive and produce forest. Don't let the bared roots dry out prior to planting them.

Ditto to Shortleaf Pine for the best choice.

Shortneedle Pine is the ONLY pine that is native to this area. It is certainly the one to go with.

Shortleaf Pine are such beautiful trees in my opinion if grown out in the open. The bark is unique and the branching pattern resembles a giant bonsai!
