I run into stupid people almost every day, but this is beyond normal stupid. It looks real, and I guess it is, but I wonder if there's any way it's some kind of prank video.

With a title like "Palm tree chop down fail", you just know it's going to be good! I like how for the most part, nobody even seemed that surprised or alarmed at the outcome. Just par for the course!

You can tell its a prank based on the reaction of the individuals, plus to Ken's pint the gate is closed so they had no intention of getting the vehicle out of the way.

None the less entertaining!

I think it may be a prank too, but, if they are dumb enough to perform the rest of the stupid stuff, maybe they are also too stupid to think about opening a gate?

RE: How to remove a tree (or not!)

I have done about the same thing a few years ago. I had a large spruce tree leaning the oposit direction from where I wanted it to fall. So I attached a rope and put on some tension before i cut the tree down. It fell exactly the right way, but it fell too soon. I was just going to cut halvway through the tree and then pull it down. Now it came on top of my car while I still held the saw, I had no time to get my car out of the way.

But no problem, it was an old wreck of an opel so it was no big loss. I was more or less happy to have a good reason to buy a better car.

TIP:

Next time clear the area before you get the chainsaw out. Preparing the area is the safe way to do any job.

One obvious thing from the movie. Did any one note that the angle of the rope is such that the downward vector of the force from the truck is forcing the tree down into the ground

I still like how nobody even seems surprised or all that upset at the outcome. The one guy actually has the presence of mind to see if the guy in the truck has been crushed, but beyond that, nobody seems too concerned with anything about what happened!
