Can I transplant a 6 year old 3 ft tall 1 in dia swamp chestnut oak into a spot that is not normally wet but the hole I dug filled with water, into said spot? And we are expecting more rain this week. Thanks

RE: Transplanting

is there some reason.. you could not wait until after the rainy season???

roots need air.. as much as water .... and it sounds like you will be cutting off a lot of roots thru transplant ... so you are adding one stress on top of another.. and then will be mystified if it fails ..

if speed is of essence.. explain.. maybe we can dream up alternatives...

it is irrelevant that an adult is swamp tolerant ... its what you are doing to a transplant ... see the difference?????
