| Trying to identify this tree. It is in San Mateo, California. The other tree to the left is the same tree. It might be an elm but not sure. Thank you. |

| resin is slightly magical.. but most of us.. need to actually focus on a leaf ... you can usually find one somewhere under the tree .. especially after a good wind storm ... in the alternative ... check the link.. and you tell us what you thing ... are we at least in the ballpark on elm??? ken |

| In the first picture at the start of the thread the whole tree shot looks like Ulmus parvifolia, with characteristic "lace" bark, while the trunk in the inset has different, grooved bark - as though you took pictures of more than one kind of tree. |

| You have one of two different kinds of tree. It is either chinese elm or slippery elm. They are considered a weed tree and do not get dutch elm disease that easily. That disease is devastating. |
