Share a video and reflection on protecting bio-diversity

There is a Bboy based in Japan. He was invited to a plant hunting trip, by a German-Chinese couple in Sichuan, China in the summer of 2013. He published the video recently: http://youtu.be/Lqkbu--GGbg

The video was focused on non-Cypripedium orchids, because Bboy had another video on Cypripediums. On this one trip to one mountain in Sichuan, Bboy shot a large number of diverse orchids, including many first time images. The area is temperate. but the bio-diversity is amazing. The plants choose very specific climate and soil conditions to grow. Bboy said, at the end of the video that you could only imagine, with the economic development and the expansion of human activities, how many of the endemic orchids and other plants may have been lost for ever.

Protecting bio-diversity can be easier said than done. This park has been established only because the mountain is actually a famous tourist attraction for the travertine formations, plus the German-Chinese couple ran an orchid nursery nearby. Many other places are not as lucky and they are cleared, as observed by many Western plant hunters, for housing, roads and other economic purposes. The plants in those cleared areas have vanished forever.
