Saw this deer hunting about a month ago,....I'm wandering if it is a wild black cherry tree ? Just curious,..I have a couple young ones planted in my yard. It is the tree on the right in the pic. Basically it is the darkest tree in the woods so I thought it could possibly be a cherry. Have a few more close ups I'll post. Thanks, Aaron

Not much to go by, but does look like black cherry bark.

The scaly bark looks like cherry. I found an excellent resource in my college days back east. "Woody Plants in Winter", by Core & Ammons.

There are several other sources of similar info for various areas.
