This is the spring, summer and autumn foliage color of a beautiful weeping trembling aspen I had come across several years ago nearby to my home. The weeping mutation sat upon the top of a small upright tree, the lower portion being of regular green foliage and normal branching habit. I've now grafted this find and have several growing in shady positions around my yard, it seems to do poorly in hot sun. The foliage is glowing bright and very pleasing to the eye, rather like having autumn color all throughout the entire growing season. On the left, normal green foliage taken from the lower part of the same tree Terrance

Crazy, and kinda cool. Keep we posted on how these do. +oM

Yes, worth growing but will have to be observed for some years to see if propagations remain stable - notice the partly green leaves in the bottom photo. There are already a lot of variegated plants that sometimes quite a long time ago got names and began to be grown commercially, distributed widely that were nevertheless prone to reversion.

Awesome! I grew several weeping clones including some in cultivation and 2 I found (in Minnesota). I still have these in a collection up north. Never found a gold one though!

bboy, I haven't considered propagation for release or sale, I'll just enjoy it in my yard. The stability seems pretty good considering I've observed only one small branch reversion and a few welcome beautifully variegated leaves, this upon a large specimen. salicaceae, years ago, acquaintances had mentioned of a large tree with the entire top being golden ... I sure wish I had travelled to see it for myself and do propagation, though now I've completely lost contact with those particular folks.
