Raywood Ash tree

I have four Raywood Ash trees in my back yard. Two seem to be doing well. One seems to be doing ok and one currently has no leaves. There are buds on the branches but I am wondering if my tree is dead or is it just stressed because of the cold weather we have had? Thanks.

RE: Raywood Ash tree

not much info here..

were these recent transplants????

on a smaller branch.. use your thumb nail to scratch the bark ... the cambian layer is a green layer right below the bark .. and it is the life blood of the tree.. and you should see it ... also scratch a live tree to find it..

if you scratch the all brown tree.. and there is no blood/cambian.. it is dead at that point..

it may resprout from the bottom ... but we would have to figure out if this is a grafted tree

break one excess bud off.. is it still green where it was attached.. if so.. there is still possible life ... if it turns black.. it is dead ..

cold can hit one tree and not others.. wait and see if it releafs in spring.. it may not happen until then ..... we cant really answer this part ...
