New filter on the market...

There is a new filter on the market that seems to be effective removing Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium as well as pre-filtration for R.O. and other sub micron systems.

It has another advantage, it does not need cartridge replacement and self cleaning.

I bet these would keep debris out and prevent backflows from sticking open and dumping, AND valves would never get clogged!

But that sounds too futuristic doesn't it??

Why would you need a filter so fine that it filters out Giardia and Cryptosporidium FOR AN IRRIGATION SYSTEM? I would think such a filter would either be expensive or require high maintenence.

Drip irrigation systems usually only suggest filters on the order of 200 mesh (100 micron?). That's what I've been using for my entire irrigation system (lawn and drip). It was cheap and hasn't required any maintainence beyond annual flushing the filter during winter shutdown.
