The 5/8th inch hose I've been getting at Dollar Store for $8.00 for 50 ft. seems to be much sturdier than the 1/2 inch stuff. They will only accommodate light water pressure, of course.

i saw those and they are WAY CHEAP priced! i wonder if they will hold up but a few for $8 is worth a Try! i am going to put a 3 way on the end of the hose so that i can just turn a little on each line when i water THANK YOU!

There are many different brands out there to try. You definitely don't want to buy and have to keep purchasing due to breaking, etc. That would cost more than buying durable tubing to begin with.

"Soaker hose" is not an engineered product, and will not give you equal amounts of water at all points along its length.
Landscape dripline (also called techline) IS an engineered product and is available from all of the major irrigation equipment manufacturers. Go to your local irrigation supplier, big-box store, or any of the mfr.'s websites. It's not cheap, but cheap and good don't belong in the same sentence anyway.
