I think your idea is just right. Learn what drip tape you are buying and the the gpm or gph(flow rate for each hole or emitter) of the tape. Should be somewhere on the tape box. If you can't find it don't buy it. Do you know how much water each plant should get per each time period? Do know what flow and pressure your source can supply. You will need to deliver different amount over the life cycle of your plants.

I think your rows will be too close together. My bed is about 4 feet wide, but only about 12 feet long. I run one tube down the length of it 12" from one edge, bend it gently, and run it back to the end I started from, 12" from the opposite edge. My drip tube has a 1 gph emitter every 12", and the whole bed gets watered very well.

If yours is too long for one tube, you could run two capped tubes down the length of it. I suppose it is possible you could need closer dripper spacing, if your soil is very different from mine, but in my soil, 12" is the closest I have ever used for anything.

Every year, after renovation and thinning, I have two rows, 24" apart, and each 12" from the edge of the bed. By the time they produce berries the next year, the whole bed is solidly filled with plants, and I have several neighbors help me eat them all.
