You have such a wide variety of plants with differing water needs. This water scheme may be hard to achieve a one duration fits all. As you probably know, usually plants with differing water needs are grouped together. To me, the critical part is the type of soil and the ability of the soil plume to spread outward and not downward. You could do what you suggest and see how it goes and then add drip laterals as needed as long as your water source can handle the extra water demand. You will have to compensate with the maturing of the plants. The tomatoes root systems are pretty extensive and can suck a gallons of water a day when mature. On the other hand nasturtiums require very little water and multiply quickly. GL. JMHO Aloha

Thanks! The herbs and flowers are mostly for soil and pest control so not my main concern. My biggest question is I should just use one line of dripline per row or do two, but you're correct, I can plug and add two lines if I see that I need more water. The rows are raised - not bordered but raised so the water should flow out and down I hope.

What watering strategies to people use with drip systems? How many times a day and for how long? I know it will depend but getting a ballpark will give me something to start with and experiment from there.

1/2 gallon of water each major plant per week. This equals about applying 1" of water per week. Usually applied three time each week. This is a starting point. Plants mature and temperature and moisture requirements change and require more or less. Watching what is happening to the plants is your best bet and react accordingly to the water regime and the those hungry vermin lurking in the shadows. GL Aloha
