Not so merry now. Sorry I had to say that, couldn't help myself :)... Are you handy with electrical things. It is probably a loose wire or wires to one or more of the valves. Did you do any recent digging in the yard between the valves and the controller location? There is a way to test what is loose. or at least check off some of the easier fixable possibilities.

When you said you couldn't turn it on manually was that from the manual button on the controller or manually by slightly unscrewing the solenoid at each valve? Can you find the electrical connection points for each solenoid wire? Is there water in the valve boxes? After manually turning on all the zones at the solenoids and you are successful with that method, remove and reconnect all the terminals wires in the controller. Let me know what happens and we can continue from that point. The more precise description you can give the better. Aloha.

Is the timer on a GFI outlet. There is a chance you may have had a power surge. We were called out to a similar situation yesterday and after troubleshooting we came to the conclusion that there must have been a power surge and the controller needed to be replaced. I agree with lehua13 that it is electrical. And it may be like he said a loose connection and you need to test the terminals and connections in the field. If you are a DIY person you can take your controller to a local irrigation supply house to have it tested. What model is the timer.
