Finding buried quick coupler

I have an irrigation system with a quick coupler which has been buried for several years. I have not been able to find it even though I've raked, cleaned up debris, etc. It has a metal flip top. I even paid someone with a metal detector to try to locate it with no success. I have a general idea where it is. Any other ideas?

Steph,

It should not be that far under the ground surface. Is that correct? Stake thin but stiff probe like a piece of 1/4" or 3/8" diameter rebar or anything that can pierce the ground easily and probe the area in a grid pattern. You will feel and hear the probe strike the top of the grid coupler. GL Aloha
