Well Well Well

I have an acre lot which runs about 400' in length. It slopes from front to back a total of about 20'. The back yard is part of a flood plain or wetlands. Based on local data, the water table there is probably less than 10' under ground, maybe even 2 or 3'. We are under water restrictions and I am having a heck of a time with my lawn. I'd like to dig a little well and install a pump to handle nothing other than watering the lawn and plants. (And maybe to wash my car)

A friend suggested that I could dig a servicable well using a pressure washer and a length of 4" PVC pipe. Is this a workable solution? What kind of pump should I install and what other devices do I need?

Thanks-

chris
