Thanx for responding lehua13. I believe I received answer on other forum of 2hp for 35 gpm at 40psi. I have no idea as to level when pumping as I've only tested with a rented trash pump. The sustainable yield during the test was at rate noted above. I ran the pump for about 10-15 minutes with no noticeable interruption of flow. I will be going with a centrifugal type, as 2-inch, I believe, is too small for a submersible.

Yup, Too small for a submersible and the flow rate you need. 2" is pretty narrow. 100 ft of wet length has storage of about 17 gallons. You have one heck of a producing well giving up twice its volume in one minute and not lowering its water level. 38 gpm is very low for a 5.5 hp trash pump and the suction hose was probably 2" diameter. So the running was restricted. Good luck. aloha

Yes, hose was also 2 inch. I'm in Florida so we have aquifer underfoot. Also I've a 16,000-acre wilderness nearby which acts as a water storage area, through it runs a river. The soil is sandy so water percolates down to recharge the aquifer. There are also two springs in the area.

It is an old well, originally drilled for potable water so not designed for irrigation but I think with the flow it shouldn't be a problem.
