I really don't like being negative but I would think long and hard about doing this. The filter will probably be used as jet pump device that sucks up fertilizer liquid into the water supply. The better the seal, the better it will move the fert liguid out of your bucket or jar container. You could figure out the flow rate of your container by timing it till its empty. Then measure your water flow rate. Figure out how much water per time your water is compared to your fertilizer liguid per time and get a dilution percentage by dividing your fert rate by your irrigation rate. knowing how much fertilizer you want to apply then water long enough to get it. Just for discussion, I don't believe this is as efficient or as easy as placing compost or dry fertilizer. This will also put salt and other contaminants in you water system for which it was not intended. The salts in the fert will precipitate out over time and start clogging or reducing the water flow characteristics of your system. JMHO and hope it helps. Aloha

Why are they advertising the Y filter as a fertilizer applicator? Is anyone using it for this purpose despite the potential problems (precipitation of salts in the pipes, clogging, etc.)?
