Station won't shut off

Turned on and checked all 8 stations which were all fucntioning properly.

Next morning found station 4 was running.

Valve 4 was in off position.

Replaced solenoid which did not solve problem.

If I need to replace the valve can you describe how to do this. the number 4 valve is in an awkward postion (next to side of irrigation box)

Usually there is an obstruction in the valve. There are several different brands of valves, and complete replacement is seldom necessary.

Turn off the water, and remove the top of the valve either with the screws holding it on, or if it has no screws it probably has a "jar top" and the whole top of the valve will come off like a peanut butter jar.

look for anything in the bottom of the valve, rocks, pipe shards, I've seen a lot of things in the 15 years I've been in irrigation.

Don't lose the spring on top of the diaphragm, the diaphragm, or the screws.

Check the washer.

Last year when I fired up system I had a zone that wouldn't shut off. After messing around with valve for a long time I noticed the little ring washer was split. Replaced that and zone has worked fine since.
