rust from well

my well irrigation system causes rust on my tree trunks, shrubs, and plants. Is it harmful to them? They are covered with it. Any suggestions as to how to avoid it or get rid of it? Are there filters available?

One option to limit this, would be to use low angle nozzles in your rotors, and install a wind / rain sensor to keep the sprinklers off in high wind.

You can use a filter, but it won't remove the rust, only some of the particulates. Your water softener gets rid of most the rust, but would be cost prohibitive for sprinker water.
