Sprinkler Range

I have a 3.5 hp pump driving a single very large impulse sprinkler. The throw is 60 feet. I estimate the volume at 15 to 20 gpm. If I change to a 5.5 hp pump, how far will it throw? Guesses are ok but it would really be nice to get a reply from someone who has some experience with this type of equipment. I saw a similar sprinkler sell on ebay for $430. This is pretty big stuff.

The larger pump will put out more gpm. If nothing else is changed, and the size of the nozzle on the sprinkler is adequate, the throw will be increased. If the nozzle is undersize, the lb/sq.in. will increase and the water stream at the nozzle will start to break up and form a mist. I'd first make sure that I could obtain larger nozzles if I had to. Did you mean that the SPRINKLER sold for $430.00? Or was it the PUMP?
