I am installing a patio drip irrigation system for my deck containers. I tried using soaker hose around the rim with the drip emitters and ended up with puddles due to the soaker hose water running down the sides of the containers very quickly. So now, I'm going to just use the emitters. Two of the containers are 24" and they are several 18"s and 12"s and 8"s. I have half gallon, 1 and 2 gallon per hour emitters. Would I be better off to use several half gallon emiiters per container in order to get the whole surface wet? It just doesn't seem that putting one emitter in the container could possibly do the job. The pots are filled with geraniums, alyssum, cannas, sunflowers, dahlias and a few sun loving perennials.
