Need advice on reducing water pressure...

My water supply splits right after the meter. One branch goes to the house and through a pressure reducer, and the pressure in the house is fine (75 psi). The second branch goes through a backflow preventer and supplies water for my in-ground irrigation system. I recently installed two yard hydrants by tapping into one of the irrigation system supply lines at the far end of the yard; this seemed to work fine. However, the measured pressure at both hydrants is 110 psi. The hydrants can take it, but I've already blown two hoses. What is the best way to reduce the pressure with a retrofit that is code compliant (and, hopefully, not super expensive)? All the piping supplying the hydrants is in the ground, but I can dig up and cut into a section of the PVC if necessary. I was thinking of just adding a box between the water supply and the hydrants and putting is an adjustable pressure regulator. Are there any better/easier/cheaper options?
