More info: The professional grade is "UV stabilized" so that it will not crack in heat or cold and has less than a 10% loss in water over 250'. Whereas the standard grade gives off 1.4 gph at 40' and 0.6 at 100'.

Standard = $20/100'
Professional = $25/100'

Here is what you are looking at and need to check on.

Std Hose: 0.035 gph per foot. For what pressure?
Prof Hose: What flow per foot. For what pressure?

My bet is that the thicker hose can with stand more pressure and be able to handle a longer length of hose since you lose flow and pressure along the length (assume a level garden). You can compensate for this by having the soaker hose go downhill. As you can see by the flow the company gives you, the soaker hose doesn't give even flow along it's length. Thus over-watering the beginning and under-watering the last part. What pressure and flow does your source of water produce? ALOHA

I'm going to have to buy a pressure gauge and get back to you. As for flow, it took 1.2 minutes to fill a gallon, so 72 gallons per hour. There is a slope to the area I'm installing the soaker hose.

You want to stay 80% below your systems flow rate. Each branch or lateral of the mainline subtracts from that total. Pressure loss is similar to flow. So length times flow rate per flow for a given pressure is the amount that lateral uses of the total. Add all the lateral usage in the zone give you the total for that zone and that should be 80% of the total system flow. Hope that helps. Aloha

Seriously? 1.2 minutes to fill a gallon is 50 gallons / hour, not 72. Common sense would say that there are 60 minutes in an hour, so if it takes longer than a minute to fill a gallon, you should get less than 60 gallons/hour, not more.
