I've used it. It is indeed very easy to program. I'm developing an irrigation controller for it, but I've been stuck by lack of time/money to work on the yard. I highly recommend it. Of course, you'll have to have some knowledge of programming in order to use it (I believe it now comes with its own software, but for what you want it may not be a good match).
