Well woes

I have a submersible pump. It went out today. When I went to check it out. A mouse had chewed the wires where they go into the well. They had arced and burnt. The yellow and green wire had burnt into. The red and black wire had some coating melted and some corrosion. The mouse must have been at it for a while.

I spliced the wires back. But when I turned it back on. The control box just rattled. I am hoping that it is the problem.

Or does any one think that the pump is shot? Or could it be that the splices are not carrying enough current? I used the kind that you slide the wire into and crimp.

The black square thing is wher the racket is coming from. Would it do that if the pump is burnt out?

Right now I am just hoping that I can get parts on saturday.

Another question. They used 1 inch thin wall pvc for the pump. If I have to pull it will it arch over or will I have to cut it into sections? The pump is down 220 feet.

Also we bought this pump 13 years ago. What would be a rough guess on the price of a 1/2 horse pump these days?
