artesian well

I have just had an artesian well installed and the water seems to have some sedement in it. is this normal? also how deep must an artesian well be?

    If the well was just drilled then I believe it is normal. Just check your screens in each faucet once per week to make sure they don't clog. The sand should stop being a problem in a week or so.

    I grew up in a house with an artesian well in sandy soil. The point would clog about once every 10 years or so and had to be replaced.

    I don't know how they make wells now but our point had 1/4 inch holes in it, plenty big enough to let sand in. I don't recall any filter or screen being at the well itself. But there might be one in yours. Check that screen also and clean weekly.

    do you know originally how deep the well should be dug?
