if i were you i wouldn't connect you irrigation to a hose faucet. A house faucet is most likely a 1/2" line fed through many feet of house plumbing (not the greatest pressure and volume coming from here). I think you will be much happier with the systems performance if the installer "cuts in to the house main in the basement". the added cost should not be that much more and i would be wary of a contractor willing to install a system like that i know i wouldn't feel right about selling a system like that. this is just my opinion and you you know what they say about opinions.

Thanks for the feedback. This guy is a "rainbird select" contractor. So much for that assurance?
Anyway, he said they would connect to the main. The first 10 ft. is free, but $6/ft. beyond that. I figured it would cost me another $60-100 bucks.
Anyway, I checked out the company with the Better Business Bureau and they have an "unsatisfactory record".
17 complaints within the last 3 years. Most complaints were resolved, but a couple were not even addressed.

I cancelled the install.
