We have a fairly large yard and do not want to install a below ground irrigation system due to local ordinances, expenses and such. As a result we pull a hose and connect an impulse/impact sprinkler to the end.

Is there a real difference between plastic and metal heads other than price? My experience has been that I end up replacing the sprinkler [cheapo's from Menard's] due to the pot metal spike breaking or the adjustment loops on the head loose tension and will not hold a pattern adjustment.

Also, what about brands? I just picked up a Gilmour 967HZS from Lowe's but wonder if a different brand would be better? I am giving up on the disposable cheapo's.... and if I need to buy it over the internet not a problem.

Fianlly, could I effectively run a Gilmour 999ZS model or quivalent on a 5/8 hose and get the distance claimed? Thanks!
