I just noticed this morning that my sprinklers constantly sound like they're sputtering. The sound is similar to what you hear when they first start up as the air is getting blown out of the lines, but it went on for the entire time (~20 mins) that the zone was on. These are impact sprinklers, and they are otherwise performing fine: if there was a leak, I think I'd be seeing other problems (like sprinklers getting stalled or not popping up). When I went out just now to cycle through all the zones to see if it was a problem with one zone or all...well, now *none* of the zones are doing it. BTW, the zone that I was hearing the sputtering from was the second zone, and it had watered twice before this morning (before I was awake).

So, first question is, if the problem went away should I even think about this again? (And if so, what should I be looking at?)

Second question, are automatic sprinklers the greatest thing ever or the bane of my existence?
