Why does my sprinkler get stuck?

I've had a series of fan-type sprinklers that rotate back and forth. My old cheap ones often got stuck at one end of their rotation if the water was turned down too much. Now I'm having the same problem with a relatively new Smith and Hawkins model, even when the pressure is turned up.

Sometimes I can tinker with it by tipping it up on one side or another, but I'm stupified. What causes this?

Get a tube of silicon grease and lubricate the plastic cam and follower (The part that makes sprinkler oscillate) Also the seals/bearings, on the ends of oscillation tube need to be lubricated. Mind, this will only extend service a season or two. They are built with sales in mind, not use.

Thanks, I'll try it. It only seems to happen once I've been using it for a while (and it's new!), but I'm willing to try anything.
