Blown Fuse

My system has a Hunter SRC control panel. When my system didn't activate yesterday, I realized that the fuse in the panel was blown. After replacing the fuse, the new one blew shortly after my second zone started flowing. Upon checking the valves, I found the solenoid for zone 2 to be very hot to the touch. When I disconnected the wiring for this solenoid, the other four zones ran fine without blowing the fuse. My questions are:

1) Can a single solenoid cause the fuse to blow repeatedly?

2) If so, can it be replaced without replacing the entire valve?

3) Are replacement solenoids all the same, or do I need to replace like-for-like?

Thanks
