Wiring question

Hi,

I have 7 zones in my system but I could only find 6-zone wire at my local Home Depot. So, I bought 4-zone wire and ran two strands to my garage for the controller. My question is: Should I connect the two white "common" wires from each strand together and then to each valve, or should I connect one wire's common to, say, four valves and the other wire's common to the other three valves? Does it matter?

finn21, when you connect the common wire from each "loom" to the common terminal in the clock I think that you will effectively make one long common wire and it will not matter which valves are connected at the other end. However, this is not an "electrical" (maybe mildly eclectical) person speaking. Seek a second (at least) opinion.
