Newbie- irrigation help w/drips question

hello all,

I've been getting a lot of help on some of the rose and other boards, but didn't know there was an irrigation board until now!

I just want to clarify something to make sure I understand properly.

If I have a drip that is emitting 1gph and I change it to a higher volume (say 2gph) typically would that change the amount of time I water?

For example, say I have roses on a 1gph for 1hr 3 times a week. If I were to switch my emitter to a 2gph, would I leave the time watering or would I typically want to watch for signs of overwatering and maybe drop back the amount of time watering?

Reason I ask is I've been getting a lot of help on the other boards but since I am so knew to this I want to make sure I am understandig everything properly. My husband usually helps with this stuff but he's working a lot (fire dept) and I'd rather help out so the plants and lawn don't suffer.

Thanks - Terra
