how to block off a sprinkler head???

I have an old Rainbird head that has begun to leak badly and has been surrounded by the roots of a river birch, totally impossible to do anything with it but screw off the cap. I can't dig it out and replace it. But I can do without this head and would like to take it out of the zone. I haven't found a solid cap that I could screw on in place of the sprinkler popup head that would not allow water to emit. Would it work if I placed a brick on top of the head to keep the head from popping up? Any other good ideas?

Hi jaansu,

Usinf the existing head and fill with epoxy glue so that all the holes are plugged. You might have to tape the outside with masking tape. Make sure you don't get any on the threads. Use teflon tape or plumber's pipe dope on the threads before screwing the head back on. I have never done this but I know from past threads the blank off head is hard to find. You'd be the first. If you are successful start selling them on ebay. Aloha.

I would remove the sprinkler head using an easy out. Then I would replace it with a 6 inch riser and a threaded cap so that you can use it if you need it in the future.
