Diffuser on impact sprinkler

Does using diffuser on impact sprinkler give a more uniform water coverage? If I don't turn the diffuser knob I get a better range which was necessary for low water pressure in my house, but then I am concerned about the water coverage, it seems the water can only reach the outer perimeter, or maybe it's just an illusion.

Experiment. Place cups in several distance from the sprinkler head. Try different diffuser settings. After a certain amount of time to get some depth in the cups. measure the depths in the cups and compare. Try an overall spread of cups to do an actual water audit for that sprinkler and other sprinklers. JMHO Aloha
