ollas -- anybody used them?

I typed in "ollas" in the search engine for this forum and was surprised to not get any matches.

I just read about ollas in High Country Gardens catalog. There is some information online, also. They have been used for irrigation all around the world for thousands of years!

They are unglazed clay pots that have wide bottoms and narrow tops. You bury the body of the pot, leaving the neck and top above the soil. Fill with water... water seeps out and irrigates the plants roots at an even pace.

I want to know if anyone has used these?!

Anyone? Hello??? :-)

Thanks!

(I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon which does get rain in the fall/winter/spring... but hardly any during four months in the summer.)
