Sounds like if you're happy with zones except the farthest one and all the zones are nozzeled for about the same Gallons output - he's undersized the supply pipe. There's friction losses in those pipes - length of run on the inlet and length to the heads, as well as each and all elbows and couplings and all the fittings each have frictional losses too that can be dealt with in pipe sizing.

He wants to charge another $1200 for his pump. In his estimate he told me originally it would not cost a penny more. Dont know how to handle it. Do I pay for the extra cost or have him pay from his pocket.

Something here sounds funky. Why did you supply the pump? On what basis did you make your pump decision?

Sizing the pump should have been a no brainer really, did he "ok" the pump based on a preliminary irrigation design and calculation of required Feet Head and GPM for your system?

I have know way of knowing but it sounds like you may have made an uninformed purchase to save money, and alas it will cost more in the end; sorry if this is incorrect.

As was suggested previously you should visit www.jessstryker.com then go out in your yard take some measurements and figure out what is going on here before you do anything more.
